CLEVELAND, OH (WOIO) - GM CEO Fritz Henderson announced his immediate resignation Tuesday.
It's sudden and surprising news for GM employees across the country.
According to CNN.com, the move was announced by GM Chairman Ed Whitacre following what he described as a hectic meeting of the company's board of directors, which had been put in place with government oversight after the company's trip through bankruptcy earlier this year.
Whitacre is expected to take over until a replacement is found.
You may recall, Henderson took over as CEO after Rick Wagoner was forced out in March by the Obama administration as part of GM's government-supervised restructuring.
