(WOIO) - New information in the trial of accused Nazi death camp guard John Demjanjuk.
The German trial has been halted after only two days. This, after the frail 89-year-old fell ill with a fever.
Prosecutors agree that the Seven Hills man was a Soviet soldier who was captured. They contend he later served with the Nazi's after being captured.
That is where the versions of what happened split.
Demjanjuk has held for years that he sat out the rest of the war in a POW camp. However, his attorney told the court earlier this week that he had no choice, he either had to do what the Nazi's told him or face death himself.
Prosecutors say he volunteered to serve with the Nazi's and was a willing participant in the Holocaust.
Demjanjuk's trial could resume later this month.
