CLEVELAND, OH (WOIO) - A new judge will pick up where judge Timothy McGinty left off in the Cleveland Strangler case.
Judge Shirley Strickland Saffold was assigned to suspected serial killer Anthony Sowell's case Friday.
This after Cuyahoga County Common Pleas Timothy McGinty stepped down.
McGinty recused himself Thursday citing a potential conflict.
Published reports say McGinty stepped down because he sent emails to the Plain Dealer about the Cleveland Strangler investigation, long before he was assigned to the case.
Sowell is charged with the murders of 11 women.
Their bodies found at his Imperial Avenue home.
He's also charged with attacks on three other women, who managed to get away.
