Arson Reward: Investigators Determine Fatal Independence House Fire Was Intentionally Set

INDEPENDENCE, OH (WOIO) - An investigation by the Ohio Department of Commerce Division of State Fire Marshal (SFM) Fire and Explosion Investigations Bureau, in cooperation with the Independence Police and Fire Departments, has determined that the December 17th fatal house fire in Independence was the result of arson.

The fire occurred at approximately 11AM at a single family residence located on Sprague Road in Independence, claiming the life one adult female. Investigators have determined the fire was intentionally set.

State and local officials are continuing to investigate the fire, and State Fire Marshal investigators have posted a Blue Ribbon Arson reward.

The Blue Ribbon Arson Committee is offering up to a $5,000 reward for information leading to the identification of the person or persons responsible for the fire.
