Elyria man looking at Death Penalty for Deadly Botched Robbery

ELYRIA, OH (WOIO) - A 38 year old Elyria man could be sentenced to death for his role in a robbery that went wrong.

Brady Phillips is charged with felonious assault and aggravated robbery. Prosecutors say over the weekend, he and 38 year old Herminio Serrano forced their way into a David Drive apartment and tried to rob 31 year old David McDonough and 30 year old Michael Stump.

During the robbery, both Serrano and Stump were shot and killed.

McDonough was shot in the stomach and is listed in critical condition.

Phillips got away but was eventually caught and arrested Monday night.

He is being held without bond in the Lorain County Jail.
