SUMMIT COUNTY, OH (WOIO) - A Canton man who owns a private funeral escort service has been charged with impersonation.
55-year old Doc Shaffer was wearing an outfit that resembled a sheriff's uniform and operating a three wheeled motorcycle, much like a sheriff's vehicle when police responded to a Massillon school bus accident on I-77.
21 people were injured in that accident and one of the buses caught fire.
According to police when they arrived, witnesses told them Schaffer was pretending to escort traffic.
Schaffer was charged with impersonating a peace officer, impeding the flow of traffic and a number of lights permitted on a motor vehicle.
