AKRON, OH (WOIO) - A 37-year-old male was arrested after he tried to rob a 56-year-old female at the ATM machine on East Cuyahoga Falls Avenue Sunday afternoon.

As the victim was withdrawing money, the suspect walked up and grabbed the victim by the hand. The victim and suspect struggled over the money when the victim's husband got out of the car and confronted the suspect before he fled.

Several witnesses to the robbery chased the suspect on foot on North Main Street and apprehended him near Frances Avenue. The witnesses held the suspect until police arrived.

Officers arrested 37-year-old Elliott D. Holmes. He was charged with Robbery, Vandalism, Attempted Breaking and Entering, Theft, and Criminal Damaging.

The manager of the CVS Store located at 235 East Cuyahoga Falls Avenue also identified Holmes. Holmes was caught stealing body lotions while inside of the store earlier in the same day. The manager banned him from the store. Holmes then tried to break out the pharmacy drive-thru window with a cinder block but fled before officers arrived.
