CLEVELAND, OH (WOIO) - A man involved in the Kirtland Cult killings was released from prison Monday.
A family of five was murdered. They were all shot in the head execution style and now one of the people responsible is a free man.
46-year old Richard Brand has been in prison for the past 16 years for his role in the murders of Dennis and Cheryl Avery and their three children back in 1990.
Their bodies were found in a Kirtland barn.
The youngest victim was just 7-years old.
Brand testified against cult leader Jeffrey Lundgren, the man who pulled the trigger.
He said Lundgren convinced other cult members they would go to hell if they didn't murder the Avery family.
Lundgren was eventually executed for the crimes back in 2006.
