(CNN) - Nine teens have been indicted in connection with the suicide death of a Massachusetts high school student.

15-year-old Phoebe Prince was a student at South Hadley High School.

Authorities say she took her life after being bullied by other students.

Northwestern Massachusetts District Attorney Elizabeth Scheibel says Prince, who recently moved to South Hadley from Ireland, was harassed for three months leading up to her death.

She said school officials were aware of the bullying.

Prince's death and the 2009 death of an 11-year-old from Springfield is motivating lawmakers to take up new anti-bullying measures.

Six of the teens are being charged as adults; three are facing charges as juveniles.
