ELYRIA TOWNSHIP, OH (WOIO) - A gruesome discovery made in Elyria Township Monday evening.

Brandan Hartman and Josh Poulton were walking through the woods to a friend's house when one of them spotted something next to the railroad tressel in the area of State Route 57 and Schaden Road.

"Hey, dude, there's something over here," said Brandan Hartman. "And we go check it out and we're like what it is it, I think it's a foot, and it looked like a foot and we're like it's so real that it looked fake."

The Lorain County Sheriff's Office has confirmed that it is human remains.

According to the Lorain County Coroner's office, it is a right foot of a woman, size eight. Her height is anywhere between 5'4" to 5'7", weighing approximately 190 - 215lbs. Based of the appearance of the leg the coroner believes the woman was between 45 and 60-years old.

Police and the coroner are investigating and are working to determine what exactly happened, but at this point, they do not have much to go on.

"The officers searched last night, both sides of the highway there and the adjoining tracks and were unable to locate any other physical evidence, blood, nothing, just absolutely nothing there," said Lorain County Sheriff's Captain John Reiber.
