Plate Debate: State Showcases "Beautiful Ohio" License Plates. Love It or Leave It?

CLEVELAND, OH (WOIO) - Ohio is giving a makeover to the state's license plates.

The Registrar of Motor Vehicles announced the designation of the "Beautiful Ohio" design as the state's new standard issue license plate design, placing the "Sunburst" red, white and blue design that has adorned cars since March of '04.

The BMV will now be expanding availability of the "Beautiful Ohio" design to logo, initial reserve and personalized plates effective June 7th. Motorists who prefer the "Sunburst" design will have the option of purchasing new or replacement plates in that design.

New registrations will continue to have the option of choosing either the "Sunburst" or the "Beautiful Ohio" plate in standard issue combinations through November 30th of this year.
