BATH TOWNSHIP, OH (WOIO) - A 13-year-old girl was rescued Friday on a trail when she became trapped by a boulder.
The rescue happened just before 3pm. The teen and her family had pulled out a rock causing a boulder to loosen.
The boulder then trapped the teen and her aunt.
Rescue crews along with extrication help arrived in the area and were able to get the teen out by using a four wheeler. LifeFlight took the teen to Akron Children's Hospital, she was last reported in stable condition.
"It took just 20 minutes to free the teen and get her on lifeflight" said Lt. George Seifert with the Bath Township Fire Department. The quick rescue was extremely critical. "If you are cutting the circulation off to the extremity, you try to restore that as quickly as possible" says Seifert.
The girl's aunt suffered minor injuries and refused treated on scene.
