MAPLE HEIGHTS, OH (WOIO) – A shooting in the suburbs caught on tape has now helped police put a teenager behind bars, maybe for life.
In the video, 17-year-old Jacquise Lofton pulled the trigger on a customer. Lofton told investigators that he didn't mean to do it and that the gun just suddenly went off.
The fatal bullet struck Michael Martin.
Now, Lofton may never be able to walk into a store again after being sentenced to 27-years in prison. Cuyahoga County prosecutors just convicted Lofton for the fatal shooting and two other robberies.
Whether you believe Lofton's story or not about the gun accidentally going off, it's pretty clear that anything can happen in a heartbeat when a kid has a gun and he thinks he knows what he's doing with it.
