AKRON, Ohio – A combination of record temperatures and no school for many local districts brought record crowds to the Akron Zoo last Friday, April 2, 2010. 4,301 people visited the zoo, making Friday one of the highest attended days in zoo history.
Last October during an evening of Boo at the Zoo the zoo hosted 4,374, but other than that it has been over a decade since the zoo has seen a crowd of over 4,300 visitors. The zoo continues to see large crowds this week as some school districts, including Akron Public Schools, are on break and temperatures continue to be above normal.
The Akron Zoo, which is home to over 700 animals from around the world, is open 361 days a year. Winter hours are 11 a.m. – 4 p.m. daily. Admission is $6.00 per person and parking is $2.00.
