LORAIN, OH (WOIO) - Goodwill Industries of Lorain County hosted a job fair Wednesday that featured nearly 20 local employers.
"This is an opportunity for them to add value, not only to their lives, but to strengthen their families and by doing that strengthen the entire community by again becoming a tax payer," said Bob Rees of Goodwill.
Among the companies hiring...Applebee's. "The Lorain store is also here so we're hiring for two locations. We're looking for every position from back of the house, front of the houseroom and managerial," said Greg Hatmaker.
The job fair was packed with hopeful people who say they need a job ASAP.
Joseph Ivey said "Unemployment is about to run out. I thought I was going to be called back to work. Evidently I'm not fo I'm out here looking for work."
Dionne Adams who's also looking for a job said "I'm looking for retail. Do you feel good about the possibilities here? I sure do."
Lorain county's 11.5 percent jobless rate for February is the highest since the recession began in December 2007.
The rate, which is not seasonally adjusted, topped January's 11 percent unemployment.
