CLEVELAND, OH (WOIO) - Cleveland Cavalier fans walking to Quicken Loans Arena prior to Friday's game against Indiana witnessed more than just a game that night.

They also witnessed a murder.

Just after 7 p.m., in the parking lot located adjacent from Progressive Field on E.9th Street and Carnegie, 27-year-old parking lot attendant David Williams was fatally shot three times by a Uniontown, Ohio man over a parking spot and cash.

Cleveland Police arrested 25-year-old Mathew Warmus on scene and recovered a handgun from the suspect's trunk.

Warmus was charged with aggravated murder and pled not guilty in court Tuesday. He was hit with a two-million dollar bond.

Cleveland Police Sgt. Sam Morris told 19 Action News Friday evening that despite the downtown parking lot homicide, the city is safe and that there are still plenty of patrols in the area.

The parking lot attendant was packing a handgun too at the time of his death.

Do you think the City of Cleveland is safe? Would you think twice about coming downtown at night?
