Coroner: Two Young Adults Killed in Car Crash, One Teen Injured

CLEVELAND, OH (WOIO) - Two young adults were killed in a car crash Saturday and one teenager was injured.

The fatal accident happened at I-176 southbound at I-480 westbound just after 5 a.m.

A Dodge Durango with three passengers was headed southbound on I-176. The driver of Durango tried to merge onto I-480 westbound and lost control, running off the road and flipping over. The Durango rolled down a hill and came to a stop on the Brookpark Road exit ramp.

EMS and Cleveland Police arrived on scene along with the Cleveland Division of Police Accident Investigation Unit due to the severity of the crash.

The driver of the Durango, 22-year-old Christopher Wiktorowski, was not wearing a safety belt and was ejected from the vehicle. He expired from his injuries. 23-year-old Darryl Mayes Jr., who was sitting in the backseat, was also ejected from the Durango and died from injuries. Mayes was not wearing a safety belt.

The 19-year-old female in the front passenger seat was wearing her seat belt at the time of the crash and was taken to MetroHealth Medical Center where she is recovering from her injuries.
