CLEVELAND, OH (WOIO) – A convicted killer is going back to prison for the death of a toddler.

Michael Woods just served ten years in prison and is now going back for seven more years for involuntary manslaughter.

Last year, Woods was babysitting 15-month-old Xavier Watkins at an apartment located on E.103rd Street and Shaker along with three other kids under the age of five when the incident occurred.

Doctors at the hospital found signs the child had been suffocated and shaken violently. The toddler never had a chance.

The toddler's father was in jail for rape and his mother was at work when the suffocation occurred. Records show his mother failed to take medication for mental illness and once abandoned another child at a church.

Woods wasn't the child's father or the mother's boyfriend. He was just a convicted murderer babysitting a group of toddlers.

The mom told 19 Action News by phone at the time of the child's death that she didn't think Woods did it.

Woods will now serve 7-years hard time because he just admitted to it.
