UPDATE: CLEVELAND, OH (WOIO) - New details on the case of the Cleveland Strangler.

Lawyers for suspected serial killer Anthony Sowell are turning up the heat on the judge presiding over the case.

Defense attorneys say Judge Shirley Strickland Saffold can't be fair about the case due to various conflicts. They also point out the Judge is suing the Cleveland Plain Dealer. The paper says comments about the case were traced to her e-mail account.

Attorney Rufus Sims says a courier took his formal complaint down to Columbus late Monday morning to be filed with the State Supreme Court, asking that Judge Shirley Strickland Saffold be forced off the case.

Judge Strickland-Saffold filed a written opinion in with the court last week saying she won't step down from the Sowell case.
