CLEVELAND, OH (WOIO) - Two women learn their punishment for running a scam to collect tax dollars.
Cuyahoga County Prosecutors say Odaliz Baez Ortega and Luz Castro ran a scam to cheat the County Mental Health Board.
Last summer Ortega and Castro were indicted. Sheriff's deputies found they'd been submitting paperwork to the agency--requesting money for services that would help Ortega's mentally handicapped son.
In reality the services had stopped. Castro was sentenced to 6 months in jail.
Ortega received probation but an order to pay back 17,500 bucks.
Investigators felt she'll have a better chance of doing that if she's not sitting in jail.
