AKRON, OH (WOIO) - Pawsibilites®, The Humane Society of Greater Akron executed a search warrant Friday, April 30th at 10a.m. for a property located on Hines Hill Road in Boston Heights, OH.
The Humane Society of Greater Akron has been receiving complaints regarding this site for over a decade but have been unable to gather enough evidence to take action. "This week we received two citizen calls and a call from a local veterinary hospital all raising concerns about the health and welfare of animals at this site," according to Tim Harlan, Senior Humane Officer. These three calls along with the Boston Heights Police Department enabled the Humane Society of Greater Akron to get a search warrant for the property.
Friday morning, two humane officers, accompanied by the Boston Heights Police Department, executed a search warrant at this location. They removed 15 puppies of various breeds.
All of the puppies taken appeared to be sick and dehydrated and are currently being evaluated and treated. "The Humane Society of Greater Akron will confer with the prosecutor regarding pending charges," said Executive Director Karen Conklin.
"The hardest part of our work is to see animals that have been neglected; however, these cases enlighten the public on the important work we do. We thank everyone who donates to our non profit organization, you make our work possible," continued Conklin.
