CLEVELAND, OH (WOIO) - Cuyahoga County Prosecutor Bill Mason announced that Eugene Schmick was sentenced to 17-years in prison for making child pornography available to share on the Internet.

Schmick was also classified a Tier II Sexual Offender. Upon release from prison, he must verify residence and place of employment every 180 days and cannot live within 1,000 feet of a school for 25 years.

52-year-old Eugene Schmick was indicted in December 2009 for making child pornography available for sharing from his computer at his residence between March 2, 2009 and July 6, 2009.

On July 16, 2009, members of the Ohio ICAC Task Force including officers from the Cleveland Police Department and the Cuyahoga County Sheriff's Office executed a search warrant at Schmick's residence on the West side of Cleveland.

Officers seized a computer, thumb drives, a digital camera and other items of evidence from Schmick's residence. Schmick admitted to being the only one who used his computer and that he had downloaded child pornography.

The Ohio ICAC forensic investigators analyzed Schmick's computer and discovered over 100 photographs and videos of child pornography saved to the hard drive as early as 2000.
