CONCORD TOWNSHIP, OH (WOIO) - Just after 2:30 p.m. Monday, five vehicles crashed sending three people to the hospital, one of the victims later died from injuries.
The Chardon Post of the Ohio Highway Patrol responded to a five vehicle crash on Interstate 90 Westbound, West of S.R. 44 ,at the 200 mile post. The crash involved 4 passenger cars and one commercial vehicle. All vehicles were traveling westbound on Interstate 90.
The first and second vehicle were stopped behind one another for traffic in the right lane.The 3rd and 4th vehicle were in the right lane slowing down for the stopped traffic.
A commercial semi truck was in the right land and stuck the 4th vehicle causing it to strike the 3rd vehicle. The 3rd vehicle then went airborne striking the 2nd and 1st vehicles. The 4th vehicle and the commercial semi truck then went off the left side of the roadway coming to rest in the median.
Traffic had been stopped due to a work zone to the west of the scene.
Vehicle #1 was being driven by James Farrell, 68 years old of Lyndhurst, Ohio; he was driving a 2008 Cadillac DTS, black in color, and he had a passenger in the vehicle, Coletta Farrell 72 years old also of Lyndhurst Ohio.
Neither the driver nor passenger was injured.
Vehicle #2 was being driven by William Papczun, 58-years-old of Twinsburg Ohio; he was driving a 2004 Dodge Neon, Blue in color. He as transported to Lake West Hospital with non-incapacitating injuries.
Vehicle #3 was being driven by Stefanie Gentile. 39-years-old of Concord Township Ohio; she was driving a 2007 Chrysler Pacifica, Silver in color.
She was transported to Tri-Point Hospital with non-incapacitating injuries.
Vehicle #4 was being driven by Kimberly Roberts 23, years old of Painesville Ohio; she was driving a 2000 Ford Focus, Tan in color. She was transported to Cleveland Metro Hospital by a University Hospital Helicopter where she later died from injuries.
Vehicle #5 was being driven by Thomas Narramore, 54 years old of Fairborn, Ohio; he was driving a 2008 Volvo D-13 Semi Truck, white in color pulling a tanker. The tanker was not loaded. The driver was not injured
The crash remains under investigation.
