AKRON, OH (WOIO) - A 25-year-old sent to the slammer after pleaded guilty to robbing Key Bank in Green.

Joseph S. Reeves was sentenced to 5 years in prison on Wednesday. Reeves' sentence will run consecutive to the approximate 1 year he had remaining on a 2003 Aggravated Robbery and Aggravated Burglary case.

Reeves drove his mother's car to Key Bank, walked in and passed the teller a note saying "I have a gun, but I don't want to hurt anybody. Just calmly put the money on the counter."

After the teller put the money on the counter, Reeves took it and left. A witness saw Reeves run towards Giant Eagle and when Sheriff's deputies arrived, they found him in the store.

A deputy was slightly injured when he fell on the ice chasing Reeves. Reeves was seen throwing a bag full of money in a parking lot and more money was found in his pocket and in his car. Denomination bands were still wrapped around the money in his car.

Reeves confessed to the robbery.
