Ohio Ties: Two Arkansas Officers Killed during Routine Traffic Stop

WEST MEMPHIS, AR (WMC-TV) - It started as a traffic stop and ending with four people dead, including two police officers.

Police say after the suspects pulled over they got out of the van and opened fire on the officers with AK-47s.

Officer Brandon Paudert, the son of West Memphis' police chief, was shot in the back of the head. He died at the scene.

The other officer, Bill Evans, died at the hospital.

The shooting happened late Thursday morning near Interstate 40 and Airport Road.

Police launched an all out manhunt, searching for a white van with an Ohio license plate.

They cornered the guys in a Walmart parking lot and that's when gunfire erupted.

Both suspects were killed in the shootout.

The van by the way was registered to the "House of God's Prayer", in New Vienna, OH.

New Vienna is a small town in Clinton County, about an hour away from Cincinnati.
