CANTON, OH (WOIO) -  Stark County Job and Family Services will offer a time-limited program providing a $150 gas card to Stark County families currently receiving Food Assistance and/or Ohio Works First cash assistance to help individuals in location and retention of employment and obtaining services to support self-sufficiency.

Eligible families must have at least one minor child or a pregnant woman in the household. Non-custodial parents may also be eligible, however, they must have made verified child support payments in a minimum of six months between May 1, 2008 through April 30, 2010. Because the program is offered to current customers, applicants will not, in most cases, be required to provide additional verifications such as pay stubs.

Once found eligible, the agency will notify families to pick up their gas card. SCJFS will not replace lost or stolen cards.

One card will be issued per eligible household and cards must be redeemed for gas only at Speedway and Super America gas stations. Cards are limited and the program will end when the supply is depleted.

To apply, call the agency's application hotline at 330-452-4661, download an application HERE or apply in-person at the agency's Midtown Plaza location, 221 3rd Street S.E. in downtown Canton.
