CLEVELAND HEIGHTS, OH (WOIO) – A man has been indicted for the death of a Cleveland Heights police officer.
Officer Thomas Patton died while chasing the man after an incident at a retail store in March. As a result of the foot pursuit, the 30-year-old officer went into cardiac arrest. The Coroner's Office ruled Officer Patton's death a Homicide at Work.
Malcolm Bryant has been indicted for involuntary manslaughter and several other charges including breaking and entering and obstructing official business. No word on when Bryant will appear in court at this time.
The 30-year-old officer left behind a fiancée and an infant daughter.
