LORAIN, OH (WOIO) - A Lorain mother busted for leaving her little boy alone in a hot car.
Cops were called to the Lorain Plaza around 12:30PM Wednesday afternoon, after concerned shoppers noticed the child in the car unattended. According to 19 Action News Meteorologist Jason Handman, the temperature at this time was 84 degrees. [Click HERE for information on extreme heat, child safety heat tips]
According to the police report, the one-year-old was strapped into his car seat with the windows completely rolled down and the car doors locked. The officer was able to reach in the window, unlock the car to attend to the child. The little boy was warm to the touch, but not yet sweating and looked to be in good condition.
After about ten minutes, Rhondesha Metcalf came out of a beauty supply store. Instead of showing concern for her child, she yelled at the cop for going through her handbag. The officer did so in order to find identification.
The 25-year-old told cops she was just running in and out of the beauty store and didn't think she did anything that was against the law.
Metcalf - who was also driving with a suspended license - was cited for child endangering.
