Suspect Pleads Not Guilty for Role In Cleveland Heights Officer's Death

CLEVELAND, OH (WOIO) - The 21-year-old accused in the death of a Cleveland Heights police officer made his first appearance before a judge Friday morning.

Malcolm Bryant pleaded not guilty to involuntary manslaughter.

30-year-old Officer Thomas Patton died in March when his heart gave out while chasing Bryant, who was suspected of assaulting another officer at a Marc's grocery store.

Bryant's bond was set at $100K. No word on his next court date at this time.
