AKRON, OH (WOIO) - A 9-year-old boy drowned in Nesmith Lake Friday morning.
Just after 10 a.m. Bishnu Nepal and his friend were riding bikes near Nesmith Lake when they decided to enter the water. Neither boys were good swimmers.
Nepal started struggling and the friend tried to help but couldn't so he got out of the water and went for help.
Emergency crews responded and searched the area but were unable to locate the boy. Between 4:30 p.m. and 4:45 p.m. they located Nepal's body on the westside of the lake.
Nepal lived in apartments right near the lake.
Resident Marissa Cavinee is more determined than ever to keep a close watch on her two sons when ever they are around the water. "Personally my two kids can't swim so I now more than ever don't let them go near there" says Cavinee.
Nepal died on his first day of his summer vacation. His tragic death could serve notice to all the other kids on the shore left unattended.
