ELYRIA, OH (WOIO) - A sobering moment for a pathetic parent in Elyria, after cops busted her driving drunk with her little girl in the backseat.
Wendy Phillips charged with driving under the influence and child endangering after she was pulled over around 1PM on Friday afternoon less than a block from the police station.
"She appeared under the influence of alcohol," said Elyria Police Lt. Andrew Eichenlaub. "The officers got her out of the car. She was unable to stand safely on her own."
The arrest was apparently too much for Phillips, as she soiled herself. According to the police report, she told officers, "I pooped my pants. I ate too much corn."
Police say Phillips also hurled a vodka bottle from her car. It shattered in the driveway of the courthouse.
The four-year-old girl was found unharmed in Phillips' backseat.
"To drive under the influence of alcohol puts everybody in the community in danger," said Lt. Eichenlaub. "To take a small child and put that small child in your car and do that just amplifies the severity of your bad decision."
