CUYAHOGA COUNTY, OH (WOIO) - 19 Action News has found a former Cuyahoga County Sheriff left big questions concerning your money, even after he ripped you off.
After former Sheriff Gerald McFaul plead guilty to theft in office, a state audit revealed that McFaul's books were a mess.
The audit found all kinds of records were missing from the former sheriff's office. In fact, they couldn't locate records for nearly a dozen accounts totaling millions of dollars.
The funds in question are related to foreclosed properties, drug seizures and even police equipment.
McFaul plead guilty to forcing deputies to do fundraising work for him on county time.
He also admitted he had taken money from his campaign fund.
