Lion found dead in zoo pen; two other lions suspected

CLEVELAND (AP) - A lion found dead at the Cleveland Metroparks Zoo on Monday apparently was attacked by two lions who were mistakenly let into the same pen.
Rosey, who was 18, had been at the zoo since 1993 and never got along with Moufasa and Chloe, 5-year-old siblings who arrived at the zoo in December 1998.
Because of mutually aggressive behavior, Moufasa and Chloe were kept away from Rosey at all times.
Moufasa and Chloe were inadvertently allowed access to Rosey's nighttime holding area, the zoo said. The 168-acre zoo said its staff procedures were under review.
The zoo said it would release results of a necropsy, or animal autopsy, when available.
