14-year-old indicted in 4-year-old's death

AKRON, Ohio (AP) - A grand jury returned a murder indictment Monday against a 14-year-old foster child who will be tried as an adult in the beating death of a 4-year-old girl.
Summit County Prosecutor Sherri Bevan Walsh said Jai Chandler could face 15 years to life in prison if convicted in the Aug. 8 beating death of Tiffanie Johnson.
He also was indicted on charges of felonious assault, child
endangering and car theft.
Their foster mother had asked him and another 14-year-old to watch the girl. The victim's mother was hospitalized at the time.
Chandler, who has been held on $1 million bond, faces
arraignment Wednesday.
The 14-year-old eyewitness was sentenced to four years in
juvenile detention for voluntary manslaughter, felonious assault and car theft.
