CLEVELAND, OH (WOIO) - 19 Action News has some good news and some bad news to tell you about concerning your health.
The Centers for Disease Control says more Americans are exercising, but we're just as fat as ever. In fact 28% of Americans are obese.
Researchers say the prevalence of obesity among adults aged 20 and over has increased and Kevin Smyth, a personal trainer says he knows why.
He says a common mistake people make when starting up an exercise program is they don't change their diet.
"When a person does workout, absolutely, they're gonna get a bigger appetite," says Kevin Smyth.
"You have to have the exercise there, but if proper nutrition doesn't follow, it's not likely you'll lose weight."
Smyth says the three keys to weight loss are aerobic activity, like running, weight or resistance training to build muscle and proper nutrition.
