SAGAMORE HILLS, Ohio (AP) - An ex-convict jumped 130 feet to his death from a bridge while fleeing police, authorities said.
Keith E. Powell, 43, of Streetsboro, was being pursued by a Sagamore Hills officer when he jumped Monday morning from a bridge in this suburb between Cleveland and Akron.
According to police, a township officer checking a car license found there were several traffic warrants for the owner's arrest.
The car sped off and Powell stopped on the bridge over the Brecksville reservation of the Cleveland Metroparks. He ran and jumped over the side of the bridge, police said.
In 1995, Powell pleaded guilty to burglary, robbery, grand theft and forgery and was sentenced to eight to 15 years. He was paroled last July 1.
