This wasn't Cleottis Gilcreast's first domestic violence incident, so the judge imposed a stiff sentence on Monday morning, despite Gilcreast's insistent claims that he was innocent and witnesses lied to police.
According to police, Gilcreast got mad at his live-in girlfriend because she would not make him a sandwich on May 5th. He pushed the victim onto the bed and held her down. When he let her go, she started packing a bag to leave with her sister and brother-in-law, who were present and witnessed the incident.
Gilcreast then picked up a knife to threaten the victim. The brother-in-law convinced him to put it down. When the victim went back into the house after putting a bag in her sister's van, Gilcreast slammed her to the floor face first. The victim's sister called 9-1-1.
When police arrived, they found the victim lying on the floor with her face all bloody. Police stopped Gilcreast as he was walking from the apartment and arrested him.
Incredibly, the victim stood in front of the judge and asked him not to send her man to jail.
At the time of the incident, Gilcreast was already on probation for a July 31, 2008 Domestic Violence conviction against the same victim.
