NEW DETAILS: BROOK PARK, OH (WOIO) - The man accused of savagely attacking a hotel clerk at the Howard Johnson Hotel in Brook Park has been charged.

Benjamin Mason charged with rape and robbery after the weekend attack at the hotel on Snow Road.

19 Action News has learned Mason lured the front desk clerk to his room by claiming he had a problem. Police say she went to his room, knocked on the door and was then grabbed by her neck and sexually assaulted. The victim's car was stolen and the hotel cash register was cleaned out.

Mason was in town as part of a group that sold magazines door-to-door. He was arrested Monday by co-workers who coaxed him to go back to the motel, where he was apprehended without incident by police.

Mason is also wanted in Illinois for robbery.
