Heartbreak: Elderly Man Killed in Tragic Accident at McDonald's Drive Thru

STRONGSVILLE, OH (WOIO) - An 86-year-old man died in a tragic accident on Monday, which also happened to be the victim's birthday.

Strongsville Police say Richard Lowrie was in the drive-thru of the McDonald's on Pearl Road when he accidentally dropped his eye glasses.

Lowrie opened the car door to get them, but accidentally hit the gas and became pinned between the building and his car.

Colin Hyle working construction one minute and the next he found himself using his equipment to help rescue an elderly man in bad shape.

"Some guy ran over and said some guy is caught, " said Colin Hyle.

Investigators say the 86-year old had just finished paying for his order when the accident happened.

Lowrie was rushed to a nearby hospital where he later died.

His cause of death has been ruled as blunt force trauma to the head.
