Lights Out: Strong Storms Wipe Out Power in Northeast Ohio

CANTON, OH (WOIO) - Strong storms rolled through Northeast Ohio early Tuesday morning leaving hundreds without power.

As of 9AM, AEP reported there were still 640 customers in the Stark County area without power. Click here to see the current outages from AEP.

Ohio Edison also reporting outages Tuesday. There are more than 500 customers powerless in Alliance, Beach City, Canal Fulton, Hartville, Canton, Navarre, North Canton and Uniontown.

In Summit County, I-77 was shutdown at Ghent Road after a utility pole caught fire just before 8AM.  First Energy crews were on scene just before 9AM evaluating the damage and repairs needed. The interstate is now open.

In Cuyahoga, Geauga, Lake and Ashtabula counties, there were more than 10,000 people without power also at 9AM. Click here to see First Energy's power outage map.
