Shots Fired: CPD Investigates E. 79th Street Shooting

CLEVELAND, OH (WOIO) - Cleveland Police are investigating a felonious assault shooting Sunday.

19 Action News has learned that late Saturday evening just after 11p.m. a 30-year-old male was shot while walking along E. 70th Street and St. Clair.

Once on scene, officers found 30-year-old Arsuntae Abayomi of Columbus, Ohio with a gunshot wound to the right leg.

Abayomi told officers that an unknown black male in a white shirt pulled a handgun and started shooting at him. He was struck in the right thigh. After the shooting, the suspect fled and the Abayomi ran to seek help.

While investigating, the victim became uncooperative and refused to answer the officers' questions.

Abayomi was conveyed by EMS to Huron Road Hospital for treatment.

This investigation is being handled by the Fifth District Detective Bureau.
