CLEVELAND, OH (WOIO) - A convicted sex offender from the suburbs is getting an early release from prison.
Albert Azolino of Broadview Heights will hit the streets a year early after a four year sentence for sexually assaulting two teenage girls he'd met online.
Azolino slept with both a 13 and 14-year-old girl and now says in a letter to the court that he has learned his lesson and is sorry. He says he's a changed man.
According to Azolino's attorney, there's another reason he wants out. He is afraid of a prison gang called the Gangster Disciples.
Cuyahoga County prosecutors argued tough luck, but Judge Timothy McCormick is giving him another chance.
Azolino was granted an early release with restrictions. Among them, he is on probation and can't have any internet use.
Is this really a changed man?
Azolino's victims spoke out to 19 Action News saying "I was lied to and manipulated and he is very good at manipulation. I lost so much as a result of what AJ did to me" and that "we'll be watching to see if he stays out of trouble."
