CLEVELAND, OH (WOIO) - New, more lenient charges have been filed against a teen arrested during a protest at Collinwood High School.
Destini Bronaugh is now charged with resisting arrest and obstruction of justice. This, after the teen previously faced a felony charge for fighting with police during a poorly organized student protest at Collinwood.
Police say that when they started to question protestors, two girls acted up, and one kicked a cop. Destini and her sister were arrested. Her sister was handled as a juvenile.
Supporters of the teen posted video of the incident on YouTube, claiming police brutality. When Bronaugh went to court, the city suddenly asked for the charges to be dropped.
Cuyahoga County Prosecutors say the city law department wanted more time to investigate, and re-filed the lesser charges on Tuesday.
