UPDATE: CLEVELAND, OH (WOIO) - The Cleveland mother accused of leaving her two young kids in a boiling hot car went before a judge on Wednesday.
Kendra Smallwood was cuffed and stuffed after police say she parked her car on Holmden near Scranton on the city's Westside with her 2-year-old and 3-year-old boys inside.
Smallwood then allegedly went to sell her blood plasma at a center on West 25th.
The kids managed to get out of the car and started to walk down the street. A good Samaritan spotted the youngsters and called cops.
A defense attorney blamed a friend.
"These children were not left alone. They were left with a friend of hers (Smallwood) who had indicated she'd be taking the kids to the park. So when Ms. Smallwood exited the vehicle, they were with Ms. Shaw who had babysat the children in the past."
Fortunately for Smallwood, the children are fine and are staying with family.
She pleaded not guilty in court Wednesday and her bond was set at $7,500 dollars.
