EXCLUSIVE: Area police can now find criminals with their eyes closed, if they want to.
Cops have gotten big grant money to pay for a new way to catch wanted bad guys. In five counties, they will be reading license plates even on moving cars.
The new system is able to read license plates even if the patrol car - or other traffic - is moving to see if the car is stolen or if the driver is wanted.
The City's Safety Director points out that Cleveland is already using the system, but so will the entire region.
42 cameras in Cuyahoga, Lorain, Lake, Geauga and Ashtabula counties. Sheriff's deputies and some local officers will have the equipment on cars, while a few cameras will be stationary at the airport.
