Dozens Turn Out for James Kerstetter Memorial 5K Run/Walk

ELYRIA, OH (WOIO) - James Kerstetter Memorial 5K Run/Walk was held Saturday, July 10th from 8:30 a.m. - 11:30 a.m.

Dozens turned out at Kerstetter Way (North St) and West for the 1st annual James Kerstetter Memorial 5K run/walk.

The walk was one mile long and started five minutes after the run. Items like a special EPD Riddell football helmet were raffled off after the race.

Patrolman Kerstetter was murdered by Ronald Palmer in March while responding to a disturbance call.

The 43-year old and had been with the Elyria police force for more than 15 years. He leaves behind a wife, Tammy, and three daughters, 17-year-old Misty, 14-year-old Shelby and 8-year-old and Bailey.
