(WOIO) - Ohio's unemployment rate was 10.5% in June, down slightly from 10.7% in May, according to data released Friday morning by the Ohio Department of Job and Family Services.
"Ohio's unemployment rate decreased to 10.5% in June as the number of Ohioans in the labor force declined," ODJFS Director Douglas Lumpkin said. "Job losses among temporary census workers offset a moderate increase in private sector employment."
The number of workers unemployed in Ohio in June was 625,000, down from 641,000 in May. The number of unemployed has decreased by 5,000 in the past 12 months from 630,000. The June unemployment rate for Ohio was unchanged from June 2009.
The U.S. unemployment rate for June was 9.5%, down from 9.7% in May.
