UPDATE: CLEVELAND, OH (WOIO) - A 48-year-old man seriously injured in a Tuesday morning car crash in the city.
It happened on State Road just before 7AM when the driver of a '96 Pontiac Grand Prix smashed into a building.
Due to the severity of the accident, the Cleveland Division of Police Accident Investigation Unit was notified and responded to the scene.
The preliminary investigation revealed that the operator of the Grand Prix was operating south bound on State Road for reasons unknown crossed the double yellow lines and hit the rear of a Ford Ranger pickup truck. After hitting the pickup truck the Grand Prix continued south bound in the north bound lane and collided into a building at 4705 State Road. The operator of the Grand Prix was conveyed by EMS to MetroHealth Medical Center, where he is being treated for his injuries.
The driver of the Ford Ranger did not report any injuries at this time.
This investigation is being handled by the Cleveland Division of Police Accident Investigation Unit.
