AKRON, OH (WOIO) - The Akron School Board has approved the elimination of seven administrative jobs. The cuts will save the district more than $670,000.
The decision was made at Monday's meeting.
Positions eliminated include:
• Executive Director, Communications
• Executive Director, Student Support Services
• Administrative Coach
• 2 Assistant Principals
• Special Education Coordinator
• School Improvement Coordinator
"Obviously, it's not easy making staff reductions," said Superintendent David W. James. "That being said, it is our responsibility to taxpayers to balance our budget."
This is the fourth wave of budget cuts for Akron Public Schools since early 2009.
Last year five school buildings were closed, 17 administrative positions were eliminated and there were 82 personnel cuts.
