CLEVELAND, OH (WOIO) - Despite these tough economic times, Cleveland's warehouse district appears to be booming but with success sometimes comes controversy and in this case the NAACP says it is in the form of racism.
The head of the organization says black people are being unfairly targeted by Cleveland Police.
So George Forbes and the police union president went to see for themselves what exactly goes on down there. They walked the streets for a while, observing the crowds in, out and around the bars and clubs. Forbes says it's not just police who have some responsibility the owners do too.
At this point the mayor says he has no plans to beef up security or enforcement in the warehouse district rather they are going to work on training owners and staff at the bars in an effort to prevent crime and discrimination from happening in the first place.
